The cornerstone for the gym complex was laid on 30 June 1910, with a ceremony attended by the Governor of Estonia, Colonel I.V. Korostovtsev, who proposed sending a telegram about this noteworthy occasion to Emperor Nicholas II, who also replied to the telegram. The architect was a renowned architect Aleksander Jaron (1874-1935) while Tiina Linna supervised the reconstruction; the interior designer is Maile Grünberg.
Traditional sports events include sports days in autumn and spring, skiing days, the gym gala, hiking tours, GAG Training Day, etc. In addition, the school is involved in the Friendship Cup – a sports competition between the oldest schools of the Baltics, and has a history of 57 years.
Gustav Adolf Grammar School has been one of the most successful schools in Tallinn regarding school sports – a contest involving 30 different sports. In recent years, we have been among the top three in Tallinn school sports games and got the first place in the past two years.
